It will be held in the new Viking Pavilion part of the Peter Stott Center. High school students must qualify for Intel NWSE by placing in the top third at their regional fair.

Thursday March 14th Final day for Middle School Registration

Middle school project registration shuts down on Thursday. Projects which are not registered online are not eligible to attend the fair. In addition forms must be emailed or postmarked on March 14th. Email is much preferred. Most projects only need the MSEZ form with signatures and project procedures. Checks for payment of registration fees are made out to the PSU Foundation and mailed to the address at left. Include school name or exhibit number on check.

4 fairs in the next 10 days

CWOSE Saturday March 2nd at Willamette University-especially needs middle school judges
CREST Monday March 4th at Wilsonville High School-needs Energy & Environmental Engineering and Special Award judges
GBSE Friday March 8th at Gresham High School and CRSE also March 8th at Central Oregon Community College could both use a few more judges in any category.

Also Intel NWSE is Friday April 12th at Portland State University, greatest need for middle school judges.

Kind people with general knowledge can judge middle school. Online registration starts at
currently registered judges can review project abstracts from their judge menu.

ASE and BHSE this Friday

The Aardvark Science Expo is at 6699 SW Oleson Road, Portland in the SPARC. Judges start with breakfast at 7:30am.

The Beaverton Hillsboro Science Expo is at Intel's Jones Farm Conference Center, 2111 NE 25th Ave, Hillsboro. Judges start at 8am.

Intel NWSE Middle School Deadline

This was emailed to Adult Sponsors on February 14th.

Reminder, the $5 deadline is Feb. 21st, although if you want to pay more that is fine too. Donations to the fair happily accepted. Checks should be made out to the PSU Foundation and mailed to NWSE, PO Box 311, Banks OR 97106.

You can save postage by only mailing the payment with the School Registration Form, and emailing me the project paperwork. A physical copy of the forms does need to be at the fair as part of the exhibit, but I can review forms electronically. So print the MSEZ form and get those signed and send a copy to me with the project procedures.
If the project doesn't meet MSEZ rules then the ISEF forms are needed.

Also I have changed a term on the website, instead of calling it a Risk Assessment, it will be called a Safety Assessment. I hope by changing the name to avoid confusion with ISEF Form 3. For projects following the MSEZ rules the Safety Assessment is added at the end of their procedures.

Remember to ask for help if you need it. And never allow bacteria to be grown at home.

High School Project registration deadline

The following regional fairs have a deadline of February 14th to be registered online and to postmark forms. They are the Gresham Barlow Science Expo, Central Western Oregon Science Expo and COCC Regional Science Expo. The mailing addresss for all of these fairs is PO Box 311, Banks OR 97106.

Middle school deadlines for Intel NWSE are listed here.

Adult Sponsor message

Hello Adult Sponsors,
Please be aware that the Thursday April 11th set-up time will be from 4-7pm. This starts and ends an hour earlier than prior years. Friday set-up is from 7-9am.

Middle school students do not have to be present for set-up, but a high school student must be present to complete display check for their poster. This can be one member of a team. All required ISEF or NWSES forms must be there for set-up.

Volunteer Registration has opened. There are several short duration jobs happening during the public viewing time. Please register for one. Middle school students will continue to be split by school into either session 1 or 2. As soon as you add projects select your preferred session. If you have no preference, know I will assign based on balancing category numbers and can keep schools together who are sharing transportation.

This email was sent to all adult sponsors on January 15th. Please check your spam if you did not receive it.
