Intel Northwest Science Expo Dates

For 2014 the Intel Northwest Science Expo will continue as a split fair. Middle school will be Friday March 21 at the Peter Stott Center PSU. High school will be April 4 in the Smith Memorial Student Union PSU. High school students must qualify for Intel NWSE by placing in the top third at their regional fair.  Set-up will be offered both Thursday evening and Friday morning for each Intel NWSE fair.

Online Registration is open for 2014

The online registration site has been updated with 2014 forms and categories.  Adult Sponsors must start the process by updating their information and then adding a project.

Intel International Science and Engineering Fair Team Oregon Results 2013

Here are the 2013 Intel ISEF award winners from Team Oregon. These students won trips to Sweden, Czech Republic, Italy and Taiwan as well as $220,250 in awards and scholarships. Twelve of the 22 projects representing 13 of the 24 finalists earned awards.

Dudley R. Herschbach SIYSS Award

All-expense-paid trip awarded to three finalists to attend
the Stockholm International Youth Science Seminar (SIYSS) (www.fuf.org/siyss/),
which includes attendance at the Nobel Prize ceremonies, in Stockholm, Sweden.
The Dudley R. Herschbach SIYSS Award is a multi-disciplinary seminar
highlighting some of the most remarkable achievements by young scientists from
around the world. The students have the opportunity to visit scientific
institutes, attend the Nobel lectures and press conferences, learn more about
Sweden and experience the extravagance of the Nobel festivities. Valid passport
required for travel.

Team OR Rocks Intel ISEF

Team Oregon's 22 projects brought home 29 awards from the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Phoenix Arizona last week. Three were judged Best in their category and four international trips were awarded. Excellent job by our 24 competitors.

Excellent High School Fair

Thank you to all the volunteers, judges, teachers, students and parents who made the fair such a success.

Intel NWSE High School information

Here are some quick links to Schedules, display regulations, and a PSU Campus map. For directions to Portland State University the campus map has links for mass transit and driving. Parking Structure 3 has the most metered spots available for visitors.  The high school fair takes place in the Smith Memorial Student Union on the Third floor. The street address is 1825 SW Broadway, Portland OR 97201. The award ceremony is in Hoffman Hall 1833 SW 11th Ave.

Thank you Volunteers for a Great Middle School Fair

Yesterday was a very successful middle school fair. Thank you to all the volunteers who made it possible. Especially the PSU Viking Football players and Peter Stott Staff who set-up and took down all those tables in under an hour, all the Judges who interviewed the students, my Key Volunteers who took care of the volunteers, judges, food, registration and data entry.  And all the other people who helped throughout the day with jobs big and small.

Thank you also to all the fair sponsors and the donations from Dave`s Killer Bread, New Seasons, and Aloha Costco that made the judge breakfast possible. 

Middle School Set-up

The street address for the Middle School Intel Northwest Science Expo is 930 SW Hall, Portland OR 97201. We will have a few loading zone passes available in front of the main doors, then we ask that you move your car to street parking or use one of the PSU parking garages. Friday for those visiting the fair, Parking structure 3 at Market between 12th and 13th has the most metered spots available.  Set-up will happen both Thursday from 5-8pm and Friday from 7-8am. The student does not need to be present, but the poster, forms and any additional things do. Expensive items should not be left in the gym overnight. Please read the Display Regulations before bringing additional items.
