How Is Judging Organized?
Judges that participate in the Tech Challenge Science Expo, March 2, 2007 meet at the beginning of the day to review policies and procedures for evaluating student exhibits. Judges view projects independently in the morning and interact with students in judging teams in the afternoon. Judges then deliberate through the late afternoon. Judges are advised of the importance of conducting age-appropriate evaluations of student performance, in the spirit of promoting student growth and interest in engineering, science, and mathematics. Here are the judging criteria: creative ability; scientific thought & engineering goals; thoroughness; skill; and clarity. Tech Challenge Science Expo needs the help and advice of the judges through all stages of evaluation.
Tech Challenge Science Expo will award "Best in Show" awards to the top projects presented, the exact number to be determined after assessing the number of entrants and quality of projects.
ISEF Finalists ~ Two projects from grades 9-12 will be selected to present their research projects in competition at the 58th International Science & Engineering Fair to be held May 13-18, 2007 in Albuqurque, New Mexico. Tech Challenge Science Expo will pay expenses for their trip.
