Next year the Intel Northwest Science Expo will be Friday, March 23rd. This is the day before Spring Break for most Oregon educational institutions. Set-up for middle school projects will be Thursday, March 22nd. We know the timing may limit the ability of some students to participate. Please make sure that students are able to attend before adding them online. Registration will close February 22nd. Tentative dates for Regional Fairs have been updated, though individual fair pages may not be current.

At the state fair we have been asked by the judge coordinator to limit the number of middle school projects per category to a maximum of 35. We simply are unable to recruit enough judges to provide a good interview experience when the category size gets too big. To help with this, if you have multiple projects in the same category please hold a school fair to select the top few in the category. We also have an 18 project limit per school or organization. It is not helpful to create huge team projects to send more students to the state fair. This maximum number applies to the Intel Northwest Science Expo Middle School division only.

One last change for 2012 Intel NWSE is the poster size. The maximum height is now 74 inches, this is 4 inches (10cm) shorter than before. This is necessary due to height limitations in one of our exhibit hall areas and applies to both middle school and high school divisions.
